I'm wondering how a sushi spot can mess up Dragon rolls? First of all the flavor was horrible.. They stuff it mostly with lettuce barely had any shrimp in it. And to top it off it was $14! I will never go back.

Okay, so Saturday night, around 7 my partner and I went to this wonderful place. The setting was very intimate, which was a big plus for me. It wasn't too busy, I like when places aren't over flowing with people. We ordered edamame first as a appetizer. That was my first time trying it and it was delicious. And for out entrees we order the red dragon roll and pad Thai with chicken. Both were so good and so filling. The portion size for pad Thai was large so I got to take some home with me. The service was quick, and our server made sure she checked on us periodically. I would recommend this place to anyone if they are in the area. I had no complaints, only good memories and delicious food.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures but the food was great. Had grilled calamari as an appetizer, it was really fresh and delicious. We also had panang chicken which was very tasty and delicious as well as their chicken Pad Thai. I can't believe that we lived so close to this place and never tried it. We are definitely coming back.

Try the Green curry with Duck.... medium heat! Awesome! The unagi rolls are to die for... everything is outstanding here!

Very Good Thai food and sushi. The Panang Curry is excellent as is the Fancy Lobster Roll. Not cheap but worth it.

What happenedddd?? Did I come at the wrong time? On a bad day? The last time I came here a few years ago, I was blown away. This time it was bland, bland, bland.... Everything was just barely average. My perception of this place is destroyed. The sushi was especially disappointing. You would expect a $16 red dragon roll to at least have some flavor. It was warm and bland. How can tempura shrimp with eel, tuna, and crunchy flakes possibly be that tasteless? I just can't figure it out. Total bummer. The service was fine but the food was not worth the money. What is happening to restaurants in South Florida? No one gives a shit anymore about what they are doing.

One of our favorite Thai food restaurants! Prices are great especially during the week for their lunch specials. They make a delicious Thai Iced Tea. For some reason a lot of restaurants cant seem to get it right.

Duck curry! It is the best! If you know and appreciate tai food please try this here, it is very interesting that they also have sushi and its excellent, usually i am skeptical with restaurants that have sushi and tai cuisine but today i have been proven wrong! I really liked Tamarind and I will come back

Amazing service..owner came out to the table to make sure our custom order was done correctly. Food was great and came out quickly.

Amazing. The sushi chef is extremely friendly, the service is good, the fish is extremely fresh. The rolls are innovative, complex and delicious. The prices are normal, meaning that any good sushi is usually more pricey than your average American meal. So I order my own special roll and it's done just the way I like it. I typically order the tempura appetizer but be aware that it does take it little while to make it to the table. So I would say the kitchen is slow, but the sushi is fast. I really like this place, and the sushi bar is beautiful and inviting.

This food is very good and add in the atmosphere and great service and it's a winner! The green Thai had just the right amount of spice and my girlfriend's cashew stir fry was also tasty. The starting dish of green seaweed salad was basic but good. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal as well. Will come back...

One of the menus smelled like rancid food. We should have taken that as a sign. There were four of us. We ordered three bottles of wine, before they found one that actually was in stock. Then the manager/owner tried to scam us by giving us a lesser-priced wine than the one we ordered. She actually put her hand over the part of the bottle she didn't want us to see, so we wouldn't notice. Also, we had ordered sake, to be delivered before the wine; it came to the table 20 minutes after the wine. Sushi was terrible. Hand rolls the worst. Sushi rice was cold and pasty. Salmon skin fried. Seaweed soggy. Publix makes better sushi. Thai panang sauce was the worst we've ever had - and we've had Panang sauce hundreds of times. The tofu was fried and rubber-like. The menu said the panang sauce was thick. It was thin like water and so over-sweet that it tasted like some icky, artificial dessert. The waitress said there was broccoli in it; there was none. Appetizers didn't come out together, so two of them got cold, while we waited for the third and fourth to come out. Sixty seconds after we finally received all of our appetizers, one of the entrées was delivered. We sent it back....and they looked at us like they didn't understand why. Even the 'thai jasmine' rice was not jasmine - it was some cheap, overcooked substitute rice with no flavor or aroma. And to top it all off, we were charged over $60 a person. Nothing was credited, when we voiced our issues. The restaurant was almost empty, on a Saturday night at 7:30. No wonder.

This restaurant came highly recommended by some of my boyfriend's co-workers so we were very excited to try it. I have to say it was a huge disappointment. Although the decor was very nice the place itself looked a little run down. Anyhow, we started off with tempura vegetables. The only reason I give this place 2 stars and not 1 is because these were pretty good. I will say they only gave one piece of broccoli and one mushroom which I would have liked to have had more of. I ordered a vegetable stir fry with rice for dinner, and my boyfriend ordered fried rice with some sort of crusted chicken. Although he said the chicken was ok, the rice was completely bland and full of what I like to call "filler" vegetables. My meal was even worse. I had expected a variety of colorful vegetables to be on my plate. It didn't quite work out like that. My plate was the color of moss. It was all filler vegetables such as celery and cabbage. I had maybe two carrots and nothing else of any interest. I do not think we will be rushing back there anytime soon...or ever.

Huge fan of this place. I have been going to Tamarind on and off now for about 3 years. Their sushi is always free and made to order. Another thing I love getting is the Tamarind special fried rice which has a little bit of chicken, beef, shrimp and crab. Even good reheated the next day for a snack :) The restaurant itself is very clean, dimly lit and newly renovated. A great place to bring your wife or a date to have some good Asian food :) A tad pricey, but I definitely recommend this place to my friends.

This place used to be very good. The owners and manager were always SUPER friendly but they have been MIA our last three visits. I kept giving it the benefit of the doubt as we were frequent diners. This will be my last time. They are always out odt of a sake, noodles or something else. I had the Seafood Lad Na and the it was all rubbery and served with the wrong noodles. My girlfriend had the whole red snapper and it wasold and the oil it was fried in was older. Really a shame as it once was a good place. When the cats away.....

I saw the menu at one of my co-worker's desk and asked about it. "It's REALLY good" she said, plus they deliver so I thought "why not? lets give it a try". Wasn't in the mood for a meal so I ordered Sushi. I ordered the Kissing Roll which is a California Roll topped with Cream Cheese, Salmon, and Cucumber. Delivery took 40 minutes to arrive... we ordered ahead of our lunch time so that was lucky, if not would have had to inhale the food. Sushi was good but not outstanding. I've had better but could be just that one I ordered, they have more Roll options, plus Thai, Salads, Soups, Stir-Fried, and more. They also have a Lunch Box menu. Based on that roll, and delivery time they get 3 stars. I will definitely order from here again... I have a feeling they'll earn another one.

Why are all sushi restaurants in Florida fused with Thai food? I arrived in Florida on Christmas day and after checking in to the hotel, ventured out to find some great Florida eateries that were open on Christmas day. After asking some locals, they recommended 2 local favorites that are still open. Both were Sushi/Thai restaurants. Interesting... Not a combo I imagined that goes well together... We opted not to order the sushi since we were in a Thai restaurant and ended up ordering some Thai food instead. The Red snapper was AMAZING!!! It was huge and absolutely delicious. Check out the pic... Absolutely tantalizing!

I do not think I will be returning... Phad Kee Mao: I ordered it extra spicy and got it extra bland. Green Curry: Had a weird taste and weird texture, and no I'm not a newbie to Thai food, I worked at a Thai place for two years. Tom Yum: I ordered it extra spicy and got it pretty spicy, so that was a plus. But there were so many mushrooms and only two shrimp in it and hardly any broth it didn't seem worth it. Service was friendly, so I am sad to write a bad review... but when it comes down to it I was very disappointed. :(

This place has a dish called Chiangmai noodles that is nothing short of amazing. Spicy red curry broth over noodles, your choice of protein, crisp onions, and vegetables. I get it medium hot and it is wonderful. Their sushi is also great. Good all around place.

I usually have lunch here at least 2 days a week and when I don't I miss it!! They have delicious, fresh sushi and I love their Thai the most. Great lunch specials. I've tried almost everything but I usually go for the grilled salmon (comes with 3 dipping sauces), pad thai, or masman curry. Just writing about it is making me crave it! Great atmosphere and friendly staff too.

I was looking for pad see eww so I dropped in for dinner. They didn't have it so I ordered another noodle dish. Food was decent but I've had better Thai.

Consistently high quality Thai, exceptional sushi bar. Service has always been excellent, on multiple visits over several years. Haven't tried delivery, but wait staff has always be acceptable, 20 plus visits over 5 years. Try to sit in the renovated sushi bar for great ambiance. I've been a fan of Thai food in particular for decades and have sampled around the world, including Thailand. Like mother's cooking it varies from place to place, but this is a genuine high quality Thai restaurant with the bonus of a top-line Japanese sushi bar. Recommend the steamed dumplings, Tom's Dream roll, excellent masaman curry, and anything you can think of from the sushi bar.

I love this place! Squid lovers salad is exactly how I like it. Good sushi, really spicy green curry. They have a great selection of cold sakes. Definitely give this place a try!

Thai food is hard to find in Florida, and unlike the other reviewer, I actually enjoyed the food there. However, I'd recommend the sushi or the duck dishes here to try before the other Thai dishes; the freshness of the fish is worth the cost in comparison to other sushi bars in the area.

This Thai food is great, if you ask for the "Thai Menu". Ben is an excellent server and can make some great recommendations. Be cautious though: "Thai spicy" is much hotter than "American spicy".

Not a huge selection of fish, but sushi is very good

I love this place- the papaya salad is amazing and apart from one time we've always had great service. They never seem to have the ingredients for the strawberry cloud mojito so I haven't been able to try it yet, my only wish is that they would change the music. It's always overly-loud loud pop music; the atmosphere would be so much nicer with some soft eastern-inspired tunes. It's still one of my favorite local eateries :)

After going to Tokyo this is one of the only spots in SoFla for sushi and Thai. The BEST I've had in this area. Highly recommend and the lunch bento is an amazing deal. Has a Thai room, a sushi room w sushi bar and a small side area with couches for sake with friends. Ichiban !!

I was with a small group of friends at a yoga studio around the corner and we were starved. One member of the group has recently returned from Thailand and recommended this place, so we were all in! Nice decor and not too terribly busy for a Sat. night (which sometimes is a bad sign, but not in this case). Three of us got curry dishes, which were all excellent, and one got the seafood salad, which looked delish and she said that it was. We only got water to drink and were not offered any desert, so can't comment on much else. The service was good until we asked for separate checks, then she was miffed. Sorry, but I didn't have any cash on me :( I would go back for sure if I am up in this area again.

Never, never, NEVER eat Thai food in Florida. I have no idea what they think they are doing, but it's murder!!! Thai food in Florida is like alligator vomit, and it's EXPENSIVE. I wouldn't even eat alligator vomit if it was free! In Los Angeles, you can get superior Thai food, and it's cheap, between $5 and $10 a plate. Pad Thai costs a whopping $15 in Florida. Are they crazy??? What kind of noodles are they using? Special Florida marsh noodles?? It makes no sense. I cannot justify spending $100 on bad Thai food that leaves you hungry and with no leftovers. BLAH! However, the sushi here isn't bad. I had some sort of Dragon Roll and my cousin a lobster roll. Both were tasty, but you can't really go all that wrong with special sushi rolls covered in avocado and fancy sauces.

Good fresh sushi red dragon rolls and lobster roll are great red and green curries are really good too. Also recommend Tom Kai Kai soup. The service depends it can be not so good at times . Maybe they hire a lot of new people??? But the food is delish! This is my favorite tai returant in browsed and web. I have not had a bad meal here. Soooooooo constantly good. Spring rolls are super fresh.

I just ate here and wish I could get back the time and stomach space. Tamarind, your owners should consider investing in a serious makeover of your place and sushi. Sushi rolls we're quite disappointing and sashimi left me a bit concerned. The presentation of your dishes could also be improved. Why bring out a little bit of food on a big dish. I would say to all, go to another one of the many sushi places before trying here.

You pull up to an unassuming restaurant off US Highway 1 in Florida. An ornately carved wooden door opens to reveal a life-sized Buddha whose blissful expression suggests he doesn't care if you go left into the lounge or right into the main dining area; either way, you're in for a treat. If you're like me (and you are, since I've drafted you into the second person), you begin your Valentine's day feast by ordering a grilled calamari appetizer that thrills with its slightly charred skin, exquisite sauce and artistic plating that preserves the squid's shape and sets it off on tender greens. Sake fan? Try the unfiltered 'Perfect Snow' for sweetness and bite in affable balance. Can't decide between sushi and Thai? Screw it, get both. I recommend the lobster with chili paste, which I declare without exaggeration to be one of my favorite dishes in the country; think succulent Florida lobster tail right out of the shell swimming in a rich brown sauce ecstatic with ginger and delicate morsels of egg. They'll make it crazy spicy if you roll that way. Speaking of rolls, your sushi comes first-a Valentine special roll with avocado and I don't remember what (the waitress had a powerful accent) follows a sea-monster inside-out roll with kimchee and black pepper. All you've got to do with good sea urchin is get out of its way, and this uni is fresh and un-fucked-with. One course at Tamarind follows another in perfect synchronicity; no sooner do you set your chopsticks down than your cordial Haitian busser waltzes the plate to the dish room and the waitress brings the next indulgence from the kitchen. Deerfield Beach, Florida may not be Manhattan, but I'd stack the Tamarind Tree Asian Grill up against anything in its price range on the East Coast.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. The food is consistently fresh, the service is always good and I always enjoy myself. My husband is huge sake fan so it's always sure to be fun night when we go...Whether you enjoy sushi or thai there is a great variety to choose from. Whether you enjoy hot/spicy or mild, the dishes are always prepared the way you order. Enjoy it for lunch or dinner!

Had the lunch speak. So good! Very filling had TANNER aka TAN TAN. Great service! By far the food was yummy. red curry soup zero spice I'm complete weak sauce when it comes to specify, then this chicken and peanut type sauce oh my goodness. Delicious! I will be coming back if not for the food but sore the awesome service.

I am a lover of the sushi tower and will try is at every sushi restaurant. Each one has its own flair. At Tamarind the sushi tower is much small than I am use to but still very tasty. Where other place add seaweed, cucumbers and/or avocado Tamarind's is almost purely tuna. The Chili's roll was awesome! Very large portions with big chucks of tuna and salmon. A must try when you are here.

I've been a big fan of this place for a while! Great lunch specials and always consistent! Staff is good, but some are not overly friendly. I'm not a sushi guy, usually eat the Thai dishes, but my friends say that the sushi is good.

  • John B.

Today is the last time I'll be eating at this restaurant. A friend wanted to go out for lunch but only wanted something light and non-fattening like veggies, chicken, and rice so we went to Tamarind Thai. Everything they served was in tiny bowls that were only half-ful Running a restaurant is not 100% about the profits you can squeeze out of your business. There has to be an element of customer satisfaction. How much extra would it cost them to serve normal portions and provide a decent, satisfying meal?

The food here is good, but it is pretty pricey for the what you get. In general, south Florida (but north of Miami) is pretty bad for any kind of asian food. By pretty bad I mean awful. This place doesn't fall into that pit, at least. The food isn't bland and it isn't generic. I just wish I either got more food for the price or their prices were lower. This place is really at the top of the $$ range. You'll find a good range of dishes here and a kitchen that is willing to accommodate varying spice levels and additions or substitutions. For me I want my food very spicy and without celery. They can do that here, so they get my business, whenever I feel like going high end for Thai.

  • Tiffany N.

Solid place for lunch! They have lunch specials on both Thai food, Japanese hibachi and sushi. Along with that you get miso soup or a salad with ginger dressing even if you get it to go and the best part is that I got some pad thai with chicken and shrimp (along with a good portion of white rice) and miso soup and still walked out for less than $8. They have a parking lot right in front facing Federal so if you're heading north bound afterwards, it could be a little difficult to get out of. I haven't been for sushi yet but have heard terrific things from friends about their selection.

    (4)
  • Netalia S.

Food was mediocre at best. Sushi was not fresh, service was mediocre and everything was extremely pricey. Everything is a la carte on the weekends, which makes for a ridiculous bill. Will not be returning. Ever. Don't waste your money. Go to Masamune down the street for a much better and cheaper experience.
